Network Employment Outlook

Why Networking

Starting Wages / Earning Potential

  • Employment of network and computer systems administrators is projected to grow 2 percent from 2022 to 2032, about as fast as the average for all occupations. About 19,800 openings for network and computer systems administrators are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.

  • The tech sector, which holds four of the top 10 best jobs, is projected to see the third-largest increase in employment from 2021-2031, behind the leisure and hospitality sector and the health care and social assistance sector. Job prospects in the technology sector should remain strong, thanks to an increase in demand for services related to telework, such as IT security and computer infrastructure for businesses.
